DESCRIPTION:Where: \nA new venue to the Society\, Wath Golf Club will be the venue for this years Mel Smart Memorial Trophy. This will be a Medal competition as was always Melvynne’s wish. The cantankerous sod!!! \nSet in the tranquil countryside of South Yorkshire on the outskirts of Rotherham\, Wath Golf Club boasts a Par 70 6096 yards parkland course. We will find narrow fairways & small greens to challenge us (Deep Joy). \nOne bonus is its a flat course. So you’ll see your balls flying off into the trees!! \nWhen: \nWednesday 27th May. SUMMARY:Richmond Open (9 Hole Medal & 18 Hole Stableford)
DESCRIPTION:Where: \nA familiar venue for the society\, Richmond Golf Club will be the venue again for this years Richmond Trophy. The format for the Richmond Open is a Medalford where the 18 hole stableford score is taken from the net 9 hole medal score making the lowest score the winner\,  meaning the most consistent golfer of the day will walk away with the trophy.  \nRichmond Golf Club has been ranked as one of the UK’s top 50 best value for money golf courses. \nWe have always received a friendly Yorkshire welcome at Richmond and it is consistently our best value day out. We will no doubt again enjoy one of the best golfing tests in northern England. Set in rolling parkland on the edge of Richmond\, superb undulating fairways and greens await before a stunning closing par-3 to finish in front of the clubhouse. \nWhen: \nMonday June 22nd. Please meet at the club between 0845 & 0900 for Bacon Rolls & Brews\, our first tee for the morning medal is booked for 1000. Our afternoon tee is booked from 1400 so we will retain previous years’ format of remaining in the same group all day and have a rolling lunch as the groups come in & then our evening meal together with the presentation. It just works out better this way. \nThere is also some of the group playing Bedale on the 23rd and staying over in the Richmond area. DESCRIPTION:Where: \nThis years Hickling trophy will see us returning to Low Laithes after a couple of  years away. \nLow Laithes Golf Club\, nestled in the picturesque countryside of West Yorkshire offers a captivating blend of tradition and modernity for golf enthusiasts. Established in 1925\, this historic club boasts an 18-hole parkland course designed by renowned golf architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie\, known for his intricate layouts and challenging greens. The course’s rolling fairways\, strategic bunkering\, and mature trees provide both a scenic and demanding experience for golfers of all skill levels. Beyond the course\, the club features a welcoming clubhouse\, complete with dining and social facilities\, fostering a strong sense of community among its members. Low Laithes Golf Club is not just a place to play golf\, but a cherished destination where camaraderie and the love of the game come together. \nThis will be a Stableford competition. \nWhen: \nMonday 27th July. DESCRIPTION:Where: The Manor Golf Club will be the venue for the AGM trophy. The Manor is home to an exquisitely maintained 18-hole Championship golf course. It is a challenging par 71 undulating parkland course surrounded by tree-lined fairways and woodland which drops away with stunning views over Tong and the Cockersdale Valley. \nThe Championship course measures 5\,997 yards off the yellow tees. Each and every hole is different and presents numerous challenges to golfers of all abilities. The standout features of the course are the six lakes that meander throughout the course creating unique water hazards. \nWhen: Thursday 27th August. Meeting at 1000 for Bacon Rolls & Tea/Coffees\, our first tee is booked from 1100 \nAfter the round\, it is my intention to hold the 2026 AGM. By doing this on the penultimate day\, it will give me opportunity to get the notes typed up & presented on the final day 2 weeks later at Bradford Golf Club.
