SECRETARIES REPORT,

As we bring another season to a close I’d like to place on record my thanks to the various golf clubs who are always great when it comes to finalising numbers. This is always a battle and a compromise and one which I think we balance pretty well.

I’m slightly disappointed at the number of players attending this year. Last season we averaged 22 players but this year it has been 18. I’d like to know what has caused this,? Whether it’s a squeeze on personal finances, the fact we have changed to pre payments and the advanced commitment is an issue or if it’s pure and simply the weather, which hasn’t been great this year. Maybe a combination or of course it could be something completely different. I’d like to try get the numbers back up somehow so I’m open to suggestions. Maybe fewer games or different courses perhaps? Having said this, I would like to thank all who have attended this season as without you, the players, there would be no society and we are edging ever nearer to the 50th Anniversary which would be a fabulous achievement.

I am happy to continue in the role for the 2024 season should you so wish and I will of course always endeavour to secure the best rates available. The more players we have the cheaper it often is.

I’m pretty sure the societies financial state is stable and we may have funds to cover the website server fee for next year if it’s still seen as an asset to the society. At worse it will be £5 per person next season to cover at least 2 years. the treasurer will confirm.

Finally, well done to the winners of this seasons outings & good luck defending them next year!!

Ian Dyson, 27th August 2023.

Treasurers Report.

Opening Balance for 2023 £756.22 with website costs standing at £28 making the net balance £728.22.

The society has enough funds to cover deposits for 7 society days on 2024 at £100 per venue but could suffer if more is required.

The treasurer proposed £1 to be added to fixtures in the 2024 to increase funds and this was seconded by Mike Pottock. All voted in favour.

The deposit From Low Laithes will be returned to the funds after the AGM.

Alan Ashbee, 31st August 2023.

Captains Report,

Handicaps.

It was decided that the handicaps will be rested on the 1st March 2024  as it is after the 3 years since the start of the new buffer zone system. This is in line with what was decided in the 2021 AGM.

2024 Fixtures:-

It was decided to waveless fixtures in 2024 than previous years. This is to try and resurrect numbers the ever difficult cost of living rises. It was also proposed by Mike Pottiock to do a pairs or team event at one of the fixtures, this was seconded by Wayne Jackson and all voted in favour.

The fixtures will be dependant on costs and as always the secretary will do his upmost to secure the best deals possible. Please see the fixture pages on this website for updates.
