SECRETARIES REPORT:
Our first full season with little interruption has made my life easier than last season and It appears the Covid pandemic is pretty much behind us thankfully.
As always the golf clubs have been great with us in their flexibility towards our numbers but it does take your responses to my emails to allow me to give an accurate number of players when organising the events. This is especially important when when lunch is involved as clubs are now tightening their belts somewhat to save money where possible.
I would Like to thank the continuing support by all of you who turn out to our days at the various events but I would particularly like to officially welcome and say thanks to our new members who have joined us this year and I hope to see you all again next season. This season has been the best so far with an average of 22 players attending but It would be great to see even more new members so please spread the word and lets see what we can do.
If elected I am happy to continue in the role of secretary into 2023 but as always it is on the understanding that everyone does reply to my emails as soon as they can when I’m sorting the numbers. It has been better this year but theres still room for improvement. Clubs are tightening their financial belts and the last thing we need is to be overbook and then be charged for non attenders but on the flip side if i under book then often its not possible to add extra tee times due to other society/visitor bookings taking the spaces.
Talking of tightening belts……I will continue to search for the best deals possible and I’m hopeful any price increases will be minimal.
I’m Pleased to say that we have enough funds to cover next years server fees for the website from the £5’s we took this season and so thats one cost sorted.
Lastly, Well done to all the winners of 2022. Names will be published on the website with the full AGM minutes in due course. Hope to see you all return next season to try defend your titles!
TREASURERS REPORT:
Report will be added ASAP.
CAPTAINS REPORT:
I would like to thank everyone for the support to the society throughout the season and especially for the super attendance to my captains day at Hillsborough this season. I had a great day and it was a pleasure to dish put the prizes, especially the bucket and spade!
Overall I’ve had a great season and I wish Mike Pottock all the best in his season of captaincy in 2023.
Dave Colley.
HANDICAPS:
After much discussion there was a motion put forward by Lee Weatherill for a change in the way the handicap system operates. The change would see the usual 1 or 2 shot deductions for being higher than the buffer zone however when lower than the buffer zone it would see only 1 shot returned. The motion was seconded by Billy Milne and it was voted in favour by 7 votes to 6.
It was also agreed that everyones handicaps will be reviewed against their WHS handicap every 3 years with the possibility of adjusting society handicaps accordingly. Therefor, it will be at the end of next season for the first review.
WEBSITE, SUBS AND FEES:
The website is seen as an asset to the society and therefore will stay. We have enough funds from the £5’s collected in 2022 to see the server fees and the domain name paid for until the end of 2023. It is anticipated that there is enough in the club funds to cover all the deposits required to secure booking for next season and as it stands we do not need to charge any subs next season. This will be reviewed on booking up the fixtures.
There was a motion put forward by Ian Dyson to trial payments for 2023 fixtures in advance by BACS. This was seconded by Roger Worth and the motion was carried unanimously. We will use the societies account to collect any monies and all payments will need to be paid AT LEAST 5 days in advance. Bank details will be emailed out in due course.
