Crosland Heath Report

Wow, what super weather we had at Crosland Heath G.C. for everyone who turned out to play for the Samuel Webster Cup. A cup with great history, first played for way back in 1977. The society has developed since then and its great to see the continued support from both new and old members.

The course was presented in superb condition with hard greens running pretty quick and true. A course which knowledge of would be a good advantage with many features varying from water features to quarries to play over. The wind was kind to us and I think we can all thank the golfing god for that. I imagine its a real tough course in the windy conditions.

Thanks has to be said to the club and also the ‘host’ Billy Milne for looking after us really well.

Onto the prizes & the nearest pins were taken by Billy Milne (hole 2), Paul Kilburn (holes 9 & 14) , Lee Cooper (hole 12) and Jack Prudhoe (hole 17).

The captains prize on hole 7 was won by Lee Weatherill.  Two players entered the 2’s club, well done Paul ‘Killer’ Kilburn & Jack Prudhoe.

In third place with 36 points was Mike Pottock. Second on 37 points was Steve ‘El Pato’ Pattrick and taking the Webster Cup home with a great score of 39 was one of our new members this year Kim Ross. Well done Kim and well done to all who took a prize.

Our next outing will be The Hickling Trophy which will be played for at Forest Park G.C. A relatively flat course in Stockton On Forest on the outskirts of York. I will be emailing in due coarse for numbers and it would be great to see as many, if not more turn out than we had for Crosland Heath.
